General Advice
The bureau offers generalist advice on a wide range of subjects including welfare benefits, debt, consumer matters, disability issues, employment, housing, relationships, utilities, tax, education, health, immigration and nationality. In addition to this the bureau offers a wide range of local information about services that are available.
The generalist advice service is delivered by a team of highly skilled volunteer generalist advisers who are supported by the bureau's advice session supervisor and the management team. The advisers have access to a huge range of information contained on the their national association, Citizens Advice's electronic information system, Advisernet. The Advisernet information system is internet based and is updated as soon as legislation changes which ensures that the information you receive is always accurate and up to date.
The generalist advice service can be accessed through the bureau's open door service on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10am and 2pm. No appointment is necessary although due to high demand for the service you may experience a wait before seeing an adviser. Generalist advice is also available by telephone on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on 0844 855 2322 between 10am and 4pm.
